Chelsea are planning to hold fresh talks with Antonio Rudiger whose contract expires at the end of the season.
The German has less than 11 months remaining on his deal, and he has yet to give the green light for a renewal.
A recent report claimed that Rudiger is assessing his options, particularly with the club’s pursuit of Jules Kounde.
However, The Blues could not seal the deal for Kounde, and they could now focus on renewing player contracts.
The Blues have not made the breakthrough with Rudiger. The centre-back is being monitored by PSG and Real Madrid.
The European champions will be aiming to negotiate a new deal before January to avoid Rudiger leaving for free.
As things stand, Rudiger will be free to negotiate a pre-contract with an overseas club at the beginning of the New Year.
