Florida Atlantic quarterback N’Kosi Perry has signed a name, image, and likeness deal with Islamorada Beer Company, the company announced Wednesday.
Islamorada Beer Company is based in Islamorada, Florida, two hours from FAU’s Boca Raton campus. It is believed that Islamorada is the first company that sells alcohol to endorse a collegiate athlete through the new NIL rule.
Florida’s state law mandates that NIL compensation must be equal with market value and can’t be provided in exchange for performance or attendance.
Perry, 23, is a graduate transfer who originally played at Miami (Fla.) and appeared in 24 games with nine starts.
Perry passed for 2,484 yards with 24 touchdowns and 10 interceptions with Miami, highlighted by a 2018 victory against Florida State, where he threw four touchdown passes to give the Hurricanes a 28-27 win.
He went 19 for 33 for 261 yards with one touchdown and was sacked six times in Florida Atlantic’s 35-14 loss to Florida last Saturday.
Florida Atlantic’s female athletes are also cashing in, teaming up with the NHL’s Florida Panthers for a NIL deal.
