(Reuters) – LONDON (Reuters) – According to a tweet on Wednesday, Demi Lovato, an American music artist, identifies as non-binary and will now use the pronouns they/them.
On Twitter, the 28-year-old claimed the decision came after “a lot of healing & self-reflective work.”
Lovato added, “Today is a day I’m so thrilled to share more of my life with you all – I’m proud to let you know that I identify as non-binary and will officially be changing my pronouns to they/them moving forward.”
“I’m still learning and developing myself, and I make no claim to being an expert or a spokesperson. Sharing this with you exposes me to a new level of vulnerability. I’m doing this for people who haven’t been able to tell their loved ones who they really are. Please continue to live your truths.”
The former Disney Channel child star, who is well known for her song “Sorry Not Sorry,” also announced her decision in a video promoting her new podcast, “4D with Demi Lovato,” which begins on Wednesday.
