WandaVision star Elizabeth Olsen appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Wednesday, where she and Fallon did an amazing sketch called FallonVision, clearly playing off the plot of the mega-hit show. Just as the show seamlessly moves from decade to decade, inspired by various sitcoms of the times, Olsen and Fallon appeared to do the same as both of their looks changed to sync up with the different decades. Even the Tonight Show opening graphics and set changed as they moved from the 60s up through present day.
In the sketch, it was a bit of a role reversal for Olsen, as she was the one trying to snap Fallon back to a reality he was trying to avoid. In the 70s part of FallonVision, in which Olsen would later admit that what appeared to be a tube top she was wearing was actually a dish rag from her kitchen, Olsen asked Fallon why they were in boxes instead of in the same room. It appeared as though Fallon had created this alternate reality to avoid the truth that he is filming in a studio without an audience because of the current pandemic. As the two traveled decade to decade, Olsen implored Fallon to end the madness. But it wasn’t Fallon causing the madness in FallonVision. In the last scene, it was revealed to be, of course, Katherine Hahn, who plays the not-so-friendly neighbor in WandaVision.
Olsen, who is in London filming the sequel to Doctor Strange, later explained in the interview that the wigs and other accessories she was sent to do the sketch didn’t arrive on time. But fortunately, the same women who were the heads of the hair and makeup departments for the show are also working on the movie, so they went to work and made it happen.
As for the future of Wanda, when asked if there’s a connection between WandaVision and the Doctor Strange sequel, Olsen replied, “It is a complete tee-up for my character.”
