When it comes to figuring out what’s important in life, JoJo is learning that there’s no such thing as too little, too late.
In the season 5 finale on Wednesday, May 26, the 30-year-old “Too Little Too Late” singer was revealed as The Masked Singer’s runner-up. During an exclusive interview with E! News, the Black Swan’s star discussed how filming the show helped her reclaim her identity.
“It’s the wackiest thing I’ve ever done,” JoJo admitted openly, “and it forced me to stop taking myself so seriously because it’s really easy to get wrapped up in your own world and your own idea of your career—how you believe things should go.” “I was just going through a phase of saying yes to things that worried me if I thought they’d be beneficial for me. This was one of those instances.”
“Continued the Aquamarine actress,” she said “It’s nothing like anything I’ve ever done before. But, if anything, it reconnected me to that little girl inside of me who adores music beyond all else—the sheer joy I experience when I sing. Above everything else, it reminded me of that. It assisted me in regaining my mojo.”
Following the finals, in which Nick Lachey—a.k.a. Piglet—was proclaimed champion, JoJo posted on Instagram that she had been “confused about life, & wondered if I was good at singing/performing anymore” after cancelling her 2020 tour due to the coronavirus outbreak.
She went on to say in her article, “Over the last few years, I’ve developed stage fright, which has affected me mentally and physically, and makes me feel like I’m choking at times. I realised I had to do something about this emotion, and I didn’t want to be so hard on myself. I decided donning a 15-pound bedazzled swan costume + headdress and singing my heart out anonymously would be a decent way to go about it.”
JoJo talked to E! News about her new single, “Creature of Habit,” as well as her plans to work on a full-length album before returning to touring.
She said, “I’m back in a state of feeling incredibly creative.” “And I honestly don’t know if I would have gotten to this point if it hadn’t been for my experience on the programme, since it helped me reclaim my confidence and attempt to trust myself again.”
The season 5 finale of The Masked Singer airs on Fox on Wednesday, May 26 at 8 p.m.
