Kevin Spacey is preparing to make his acting comeback in a film directed by Franco Nero in Italy.
Spacey will make a cameo appearance in Franco Nero’s next low-budget independent “L’uomo Che Disegn Dio,” according to Louis Nero, the film’s producer. According to Louis Nero, Spacey will play a police detective in a minor part. The main role will be played by Franco Nero.
Following many sexual assault and misconduct claims levelled against him beginning in late 2017, this will be the disgraced actor’s first film role.
Spacey’s casting was announced by ABC News on May 22, along with the news that the picture will star Vanessa Redgrave, Franco Nero’s wife. Redgrave will feature in the film if she can fly from England to Italy, according to Louis Nero, although she will only have a tiny appearance as Franco Nero’s piano teacher.
Franco Nero told ABC News, “I’m very glad Kevin accepted to appear in my project.” “I think he’s a fantastic performer, and I can’t wait to see the film.” Spacey did not respond to a request for comment.
The low-budget indie film recounts “the rise and fall of a blind artist who has the astonishing skill of creating true-to-life images simply by listening to human voices,” according to the Filmitalia website.
As sexual assault and misconduct allegations against him grew, Spacey was fired from his starring role in Netflix’s “House of Cards” in November 2017. In 2017, at least 20 young men who worked at the Old Vic, the London theatre where Spacey was the artistic director, brought sexual misconduct charges against him. In 2018, Spacey was charged with indecent assault in an incident with a juvenile boy on Nantucket Island, Massachusetts. The case against Spacey was later withdrawn after the accused victim abandoned their civil complaint.
Officials in Los Angeles also looked into two sexual assault allegations against Spacey, but found that one case did not meet their statute of limitations, while the other was dismissed when the claimed victim died. Last year, an unidentified New York man filed a lawsuit against Spacey, saying that the actor sexually molested him when he was 14 in the 1980s. However, a federal judge determined on May 3 that the guy cannot proceed with the claim in his own name.
Spacey’s most recent film was “Billionaire Boys Club,” which grossed only $2.7 million at the box office.
