Rashmi Thackeray, the wife of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, tested positive for Covid. At Varsha bungalow, she will be in home isolation.
Maharashtra reported a total of 28,699 new cases on Tuesday. In addition, at least 132 COVID-19 deaths have been observed in the state, bringing the case fatality rate to 2.12%.
Meanwhile, the state’s chief minister has hinted at a possible lockdown if the situation does not improve.
On Monday, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray was “very concerned” about the state’s situation.
“He has requested people to behave responsibly to avoid COVID, otherwise, the government will have to resort to imposing a lockdown. People must adhere to the guidelines,” the minister had said.
