Manchester United will need to pay around £35m in order to land the signature of Andre Silva this summer.
The Red Devils are currently unsure over the future of Edinson Cavani whose contract expires at the end of the campaign.
According to Frankfurter Rundschau, the Red Devils have an interest in Silva, who has netted 25 goals for Eintracht Frankfurt this term.
The Bundesliga outfit are open to parting ways with the Portuguese this summer, provided any club meets their £35m valuation.
Frankfurt have recently dropped to fifth in the league standings. They are two points behind Borussia Dortmund with a game in hand.
The departure of Silva could boost their chances of re-signing Luke Jovic on a permanent basis from Real Madrid this summer.
Jovic returned to the club on loan in January, and Frankfurt are keen on sorting out a permanent transfer with Los Blancos.
