World number one Novak Djokovic powered his way through sixth seed Matteo Berrettini to enter his 12th US Open semifinal on Wednesday.
Djokovic, who has never lost a quarter-final clash at the Slam, lost the first set to the Italian in a repeat of the year’s Wimbledon final where Berrettini finished runner-up.
The Serb once again hit top gear after losing the set and dominated proceedings to beat Berrettini for the fourth time in as many matches with a score-line that read: 5-7, 6-2, 6-2, 6-3.
Djokovic is now two wins away from a historic calendar Grand Slam and record-breaking 21st major title.
The 34-year-old will meet fourth seed Alexander Zverev in the semifinal. Djokovic had lost to the German in the Tokyo Olympics semifinal in July, losing his opportunity to bid for a rare calendar Golden Slam in the process.
Second seed Daniil Medvedev will take on Canada’s Felix-Auger Aliassime in the second semifinal.
