US Open: Novak Djokovic defeats Alexander Zverev to enter final


Novak Djokovic of Serbia overcame the first and fourth set loss to the fourth-seeded Alexander Zverev of Germany to power through to his ninth US Open final 4-6, 6-2, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 .

 

Djokovic has lost the first set in his last four matches. He has, thus far, not dropped another set in any of those matches.

The Serb will face Russia’s Medvedev in the final. Medvedev defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-4, 7-5, 6-2 in the first semifinal.

By entering the US Open finals, Djokovic equals Roger Federer’s record of reaching 31 Grand Slam finals.

If Djokovic wins the US Open title, he would become the first man to win all four Grand Slams in a year since Rod Laver in 1969.
